September 2026 - Making the most of it

Scorchio for most of the month, what a relief to get into cool(ish) water - at Teesdale Leisure Centre pool – and cold(ish) open water – at Castle Ashby, Gourock Lido, Bowes Mill pond and Ellerton Lake, and a more intrepid swim in the much-abused (by NW) Tees.

September is the month, allegedly when the seas are warmest around the British Isles, and it would be splendid to have one last swim of the season leaping the waves and tasting salt. (Splendid for some, at any rate.)

Meanwhile the faithful and doughty few wimmin swimmers of the u3a meet every month for a relaxed and sociable swim. Shirley is on hand for helpful support for beginners and veterans alike, and if you are unsure about how to get back into the swim, Ruth and I, indeed all members, will be glad to introduce you. The pleasure of floating about a bit cannot be underestimated.

Our next sessions are on 26th September and 24th October from 4-5pm. Call me for swimming information 07988625738 and email Sue to book sueoverton@hotmail.com.
