Teesdale u3a was established in 2007. It is a welcoming inclusive organisation for anyone who is open to new friendships, experiences, learning and events.

It is dynamic in that it responds to its members’ enthusiasms and suggestions for activities; participation is encouraged and many give their immeasurable time, skills and passions as group leaders and organisers.

We are a learning cooperative where you can choose to join in as many of our activities as you wish and give us your ideas about the content and scope of our many group and social offerings.

At the time of writing, we have over forty interest groups, from Geology, Art Appreciation, Philosophy, Photography, Local History and Genealogy; to the more physical – four different distance walking groups, Pickleball and Table Tennis; to fun and leisure; Board Games, Needlecraft, Crochet, Painting, Lunch Group and Gardening.

There are regular interactive workshops exploring specific themes and skill development, and during the year there are social events, including coach trips to special places.

We meet monthly at the Witham Community Arts Centre in Barnard Castle for a more formal talk that is open to all members, and between meetings there is an informal get together for coffee and chat.

Membership is paid annually and the only stipulations are that members are over 18 and not in full-time work. Click here for imformation on how to join.
