The workshop will be led by Joan Lennox, a member of Upper Eden u3a and founder of two Creative Textiles monthly groups. She will introduce the idea of re-using waste fabrics, ribbons, textured papers, bits of felting or felted knitting etc with simple stitching, gluing, painting, weaving, layering and cutting, to make experimental patterns, abstract pictures, mosaics, collages, etc in soft materials.
We will show examples of work, suggest ideas for projects and provide scrap fabrics for people to play with as they make a start on an experimental piece of work. The end product will be a small textile piece for you to take home and maybe turn into an i-pad cover, tote bag, cushion cover, table runner, wall hanging or whatever else you choose to make.
