The android phone group met once again at the Guide HQ on Thursday 1st October.
We initially looked at what appears in Spam folders within the email apps on the members phones. Deleting the emails in spam/junk folders is good housekeeping and makes it easier to see emails that occasionally end up in the folder by accident. We looked at how to identify wmails that were not legitimate like misspellings, email addresses that are not related to the company they purport to be from.
We started to look in more detail into settings. This is found using the app that has a cog image. We started with “Connections” and went through Wi-Fi connections (including Wi-Fi calling).
Bluetooth was discussed with connection to cars and other devices. NFC and contactless payments were run through as well.
We finished by discussing what should be considered when buying a new phone, like network, phone manufacturer etc. Purchasing a refurbished or year-old phone was one of the cheaper options considered.
The next meeting will be on Thursday 5th November at 2pyear-old Guide HQ, Birch Road.
