July 2026 - Warm Competition

We met on a warm day in July for an afternoon of heated competition (well, not really heated!). There were two tables playing Carcassonne and one playing Rummikub Word.

Carcassonne is a tile-placement game where the players build a medieval French landscape with cities, roads and monasteries to score points. Each player also has a number of small wooden figures called “meeples” which they use to lay claim to roads, buildings and land. On one table the two games that were completed were won by Kate and Hilary. On the second table, Andy won both games.

Rummikub Word is a variation of standard numerical Rummikub. Instead of laying numbered tiles, alphabet tiles are laid to form and manipulate words. The aim of the game is to be the first player to lay all your tiles and Liz won all three games!
