Over 40 people joined a coach in Morrison’s car park on a u3a inspired trip to Kingussie in Speyside
We were well looked after by the staff of The Duke of Gordon Hotel and our driver gave us a very comfortable ride.
We managed not to lose anyone as we explored the delights of the Highlands and Speyside. These included a visit to Nairn, a delightful former fishing town on the banks of the Moray Firth followed by a short stop in Inverness.
Ballindalloch Castle
16th century Ballindalloch Castle, occupied by the Macpherson-Grant family, was the next delight. A comfortable castle with 60’s interiors and extensive well-kept gardens kept us occupied for several hours.
The last day took us through the early spring scenery of the Highlands to Fort William where we enjoyed a damp and slightly bumpy ride on Loch Linnhe. We were lucky enough to see a White Tailed Eagle and to learn about the aluminium and timber industries – still operating but not providing quite the same employment opportunities as in the past.
Dorothy Jameson had done an excellent job of organising the trip but was unable to join us on the day *– our many thanks to her. We will be looking for someone to take up the baton for next year, any offers?
