July is a busy month for some so we had a small group of 5 players for Rummikub. This number gave us a table of 3 players on the standard Rummikub (numbers) board, plus two who bravely started with the Rummikub (word). Two of these players were determined to win a game this month after being thwarted in June.
The good news is that they did! On the table of 3, David won the first game and Deborah won two games overall. She can no longer call herself a beginner! After tea and biscuits, the smaller group led Sue to win Rummikub (word) whilst Celia won a Rummikub (numbers) game.
An interesting note about Rummikub: it was invented by Ephraim Hertzano, a Romanian-born Jew who emigrated to Israel after World War II. He hand-made the first sets in the backyard of his home, and sold these sets door-to-door and in small shops. It was licensed to other countries and became Israel's best-selling export game.
